4 Power supply
The J12 input on UPS unit is a connection point for an external power source
(220-240 VAC).
WARNING: Only certified electricians should work and connect high voltage.
5 Batteries
The ST2051 and ST2052 has one connection pair for batteries, The system operates on 48Vdc, this means 4 x 12v batteries should be connected on the line.
Batteries: 4 x 12 V, 7 Ah (AGM) (not included).
NOTE: System cannot be started on batteries, Power bring up must be done with 230V main power connected, batteries is not activated until system has measured that correct voltage exist in the battery terminals.
6 Installation
WARNING: Only power on the ST2051 and ST2052 once you have carefully read and understood these instructions and confirmed that the unit is properly connected. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the product and render it inoperable.
6.1 Cabling
Prior to installing the ST2051 and ST2052 power supply, it is crucial to ensure that
all necessary cables are properly installed.
6.1.1 Ethernet cable Uplink
The network cable is required to be at least CAT6 and connect the power supply with an internet connected switch. This cable provides Ethernet connectivity for two-way communication between the Step Power and the Cloud. If you crimp you own cable it is recommended to test the Ethernet cable with at network tester to confirm it is working correctly.
To connect the power supply and units on the network to ethernet you need to connect the ethernet cable to either Uplink connection.
Maximum cable length is according to ethernet standard 90m
6.1.2 Standard wiring
6.1.3 Tools, Cables and plugs
Being well-prepared with the necessary equipment can facilitate a smooth
and efficient setup, reducing the likelihood of encountering issues or delays.
Some of the tools you may want to have on hand for a seamless installation
Include:
• A high-quality RJ45 termination tool is indispensable for a successful installation.
This tool guarantees a secure and accurate termination of the CAT6 cable to the RJ45 plug, which is vital for establishing a stable and reliable connection between the power supply and the units.
• An RJ45 network cable tester is essential for evaluating the CAT6 cable after termination. This instrument helps verify that the cable has been correctly terminated and is functioning as intended, ensuring the integrity of the connection.
Note: It's essential to use high-quality RJ45 plugs for secure and accurate terminations, as this contributes to stable and reliable connections. Be sure to use short plugs to maintain optimal performance and connectivity.
6.2 Physical installation
NOTE: It is crucial to verify that all cables are installed properly and
securely to prevent any potential complications or errors during the installation process.
It is recommended to visually inspect all cables and use a network tester to confirm
that the cables are in good working condition before proceeding with the installation.
This will help to prevent any potential issues that may arise due to faulty or improperly
installed cables.
IMPORTANT: Always remove power to the door controller before connecting
devices or accessories to it
6.2.1 Placement
ST2051 and ST2052 Power supply can be placed on either the wall or in a 19” rack.
For rack placement slide in the mounting ears facing forward until you hear a small click, then they are in locked position.
For wall placement slide in the mounting ears facing backward until you hear a small click,
then they are in locked position.
6.3 Connecting Door environments
The power supply has budget outputs listed above, these outputs is used to connect the door environment to the power supply, one door environment is intended for one port. Each output is limited to 30W.
This image is showing how to connect a ST2042 POE+ door controller.
Note: It's essential to use high-quality RJ45 plugs for secure and accurate terminations, as this contributes to stable and reliable connections. Be sure to use short plugs to maintain optimal performance and connectivity.
7 Start up
IMPORTANT: You cannot start system with battery only, as the ups has a fail secure design, it will not activate the battery function until it have measured and verified correct connection on the batteries.
Now it is time to start up the system.
- Verify you have connected batteries and devices correctly
- Connect 220-240V AC to the Power supply,
- Device start up
