What is this article about?
This article provides an in-depth guide on navigating and interpreting the information found in the 'Devices' menu.
Understanding the 'Devices' menu
In the 'System menu', the 'Devices menu' oversees the management and administration of all devices within the StepLock Access system.
The 'Devices menu' is further divided in to sub-sections based on the type of devices added to the system. Here is an example of some the different sub-sections that might be in your system:
- 'All devices': Section that contains all your connected devices - across you properties, if property filtering is not on.
- 'Door Intercoms': Section that contains all you intercoms across your properties, if property filtering is not on.
- 'Card readers': Section that includes all the card readers
- 'Answering units': Section for all connected answering units
- 'Elevator Cards': Category for all connected elevator board.
These filters are specifically designed to streamline device management. For example, if your focus is solely on Door Intercoms, you can easily access them by selecting the 'Intercom' subsection under the device menu. This feature simplifies the process of viewing, checking, or configuring your added Door Intercoms.
Status icons: each unit is equipped with one, and in some cases, two status icons.
A Green 'wifi-fan' icon signifies a stable connection to the StepLock Cloud. This indicates that you are able to edit the device's configuration and remotely restart the unit, provided the icon remains green.
A Yellow 'wifi-fan' icon suggests intermittent connectivity, indicating the unit has been connected to the StepLock Cloud at some point in the past five minutes.
A Red 'wifi-fan' icon denotes a lack of communication with the device.
A Green phone icon signifies a secure and stable connection to the SIP server, the essential system component that facilitates internet calling.
A Red phone icon represents a disruption in the connection to the SIP server. Although you can still access configuration settings and restart your unit, placing calls from the intercom will not be possible until the connection is restored.
There is also a third icon that may appear if you have activated the "Offline" mode in the settings. This feature is useful if your intercom has been damaged, for instance, by a rock, resulting in a broken display. While you are waiting for a replacement, you can set the intercom as "Offline" in the system.
Representative states for status Icons in the system: In this scenario, all units are operational and online, except for the Raptor's cage, which displays a red Wi-Fi symbol, indicating a lack of connectivity to the StepLock Cloud.
In addition, each device is linked to a 'Device configuration menu.' Simply clicking on a device will open this submenu, displaying all the configurable options available for the selected device.
Please see 'Device configuration menu' for how to configure a specific device.
