To ensure the StepLock App functions correctly, it's essential to grant it the appropriate permissions. Please keep in mind that due to varying implementations of Android across different devices, the appearance and navigation of the user interface might slightly differ from what is demonstrated in our instructional video. However, the steps provided should closely align with your experience and guide you effectively through the process.
To configure the StepLock App correctly on your Android phone, follow these steps to grant necessary permissions:
- Navigate to 'Settings' and select 'Apps'.
- Click on 'App management'
- Use the search bar to find 'StepLock'. Click on the app once it appears.
- Tap on 'Manage notifications' and enable the necessary settings.
- Proceed to 'Permissions' and ensure all required permissions are allowed. Here's an overview of the permissions and their functions:
- Video: Allows the app to access your phone's video capabilities, enabling you to see who is at the door.
- Microphone: Enables voice communication with the caller.
- Music and Audio: Allows the app to utilize your phone's native and customized ringtones.
- Nearby Devices: Useful if you connect devices like a Bluetooth headset.
- Notifications: Sends alerts when you have a visitor.
- Phone: Empowers the app to use phone functions for establishing calls and maintaining fallback redundancies.
Additional Settings:
- Disable 'Pause app if activity is unused'. This is particularly important for elderly users who may not use the app frequently, ensuring it remains operational.
- In 'Battery Usage', allow background activity and auto-launch.
- Under 'Data Usage', enable background data.
- Activate 'Display over other apps' to ensure you receive notifications even when using other apps."
