In the package
4x Assembly screw |
2x Screw terminal |
1x Locking screw |
1x Wall plate |
1x Card-reader |
Installation
Cabling
OSDP uses RS-485 as underlying bus, this means that the recommended cable specification for cabling is
according to RS-485 standard.
Recommendation:
- 2 pair, one for power and one for communication
- Twisted pair
- 0,22mm2 / 24 AWG for shorter distances < 30 meters
- 0,32mm2 / 22 AWG for > 30 meters
For shorter distances reuse of wiegand wires can be possible, but remember it will not meet the RS-485
requirements.
It is recommended to leave at least 20cm (200mm) cable where reader should be mounted during the installation of the cabling, to make connection easier during the installation process.
Wall plate on wall
Secure the wall plate into the wall according to picture bellow with the attached screws at marked.

Wall plate on recessed box
When mount the wall plate over an recessed junction box use the red marked holes used to secure it into the junction box.

Connection
Now it's time to connect the communication cable. Strip off the mantle, strip each pair in the cable, and connect the power pair to CON3 and the communication pair to CON2.

Deployment and addressing
Bus termination
Termination for OSDP (Open Supervised Device Protocol) is generally needed to ensure stable and reliable signal transmission, particularly over longer distances or when multiple devices are connected in a chain. It helps reduce signal reflections and communication issues.
When is termination needed ?
If cable length exceeds 30 meters or you connect more than one device on the bus you normally need to activate termination. This can be done by active the dip switch S1.
A sign that you need to enable termination is if you experience communication that comes and goes or fails to start.

Addressing
When it is time for deployment, start to set the address on the device, by use a screw driver and set address on address switch S2.
if only one reader is used please leave it on default address 0, if you have several set first reader to 0, second to 1 third to 2 and so on.
Now please connect CON2, CON3 to the reader, reader will start up and give a short beep sound.
Mounting
Hang the reader onto the upper edge of the wall plate and fold it onto its mount. Secure the reader with the included locking screw.
