1. Installation and user manuals
The dealer/installer is responsible for familiarizing themselves with and reading the necessary installation and user manuals before installation takes place. Failure to follow the installation and user manuals may result in damage to the product.
The Dealer/Installer must consider environments and conditions that may affect system performance, such as humidity, extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, radio interference, and signal strength and quality.
2. Network
2.1 LAN Network
Local area network must have a switch that supports the PoE+ IEEE 802.3at standard.
Firewall/Router must allow SIP communication.
The network must have a reliable NTP service for accurate and synchronisation and time management against all devices.
The use of mesh network routers and nodes for connecting door control panels is not recommended.
2.2 LTE Network Coverage and Signal Strength and Quality
The dealer/installer is responsible for investigating whether there is sufficient 4G coverage and signal strength and quality at the installation site. Even if there is coverage in an area, the device may have poor signal strength and quality at its intended physical mounting location.
This may be due to:
- Weather conditions: Rain, snow, humidity, and atmospheric conditions can affect signal propagation and result in weaker signals or temporary interference.
- User density: High user density in a region can lead to "congestion," leading to slower data rates and reduced overall performance.
- Terrain: Mountains, hills, and valleys can block or weaken 4G LTE signals, making it difficult to maintain a stable connection.
- Building materials: Some building materials, such as metal, concrete, or energy-efficient glass, can block or significantly weaken 4G LTE signals, leading to poor indoor coverage.
- Radio wave interference: Certain radio waves used by other communication systems, such as television or radio broadcasting, can cause interference with 4G LTE signals.
For recommendations for mobile signal, strength, and quality, please refer to the TelTonika Wiki knowledge base.
Therefore, always measure the signal strength and quality at the installation site before purchasing equipment.
All LTE devices are equipped with an antenna. It is important to follow the installation instructions carefully during the installation of the antenna. You can find the installation instructions in the manual of the relevant door control panel.
3. Power
3.1 Electricity budget
Make sure that the required electricity budget is calculated in advance. With PoE+, you only have 30W available per port. Keep in mind that network switches only have a maximum capacity of the total number of available watts. Check the total budget in the user manual for the switch.
3.2 Power supply with PoE+
The network infrastructure must support PoE+ IEEE 802.3at and have sufficient capacity to supply power to the intercom. Even if there are free ports in a PoE+ IEEE 802.3at Switch, there may not be enough capacity to power additional devices.
3.3 Power supply with transformer:
Use only ripple-free, balanced power supply for the products. For the vast majority of units, 24v applies, minimum 2A, but there are products that can be supplied up to 28v. Read the user manual carefully before use.
4. Training
The installer should undergo a minimum of 1 hour training course.
5. Support responsibilities
The dealer is responsible for support to the end customer, including training, troubleshooting and maintenance. Steplock Norway AS is responsible for support to the dealer.
For all hardware, Steplock Norway AS's "delivery terms" apply.
For all software and Saas services, Steplock Access AB's "Terms of Use" apply.
